1
Silently stand in the green glade
A pine cone
Is like a blue star
Shooting: a whole universe of solitude
3
While the sun is setting
A monk is in grey robe
The Buddhist lamps are lit one by one;
A celestrial map of stars night after night.
4
Perhaps holding aloof from the world
—-that is love.
Or attentively hearing the praying bell
—-that is obstinancy.
5
BiChiu monks
Ancient Buddhist lamps
A string of sandalwood beads chanted to night and day
Ah! This life has yet to be recalled.
6
Slender scent of flowers floats here
And someone cries: as jasmine flowers in rain.
And someone laughs: as jasmine flowers in wind.
8
The clattering was once so rhythmic—-
Then it became vehement—-
Just like the fallen leaves all over the mountain and valley—-
Just like, just like nothing had happened…….
12
To hear the voice of the land
I hush;
To hear the voice of my self
I die.
15
The lamp is dim once again in front of the window
—-that is the sun-set
The lamp is bright once again in front of the window
—-that is the abiding promise.
16
Frogs and crickets are singing in the rice field.
“Can you make sure what there are singing for?”
“If you wish—-that is an
Ode to Summer in three beats!”
18
Just for a piece of maple leave—-
I lost myself among forests and lakes;
Just for your appearance—-
The maple leave finds its home, and I find you.
21
A bird with red breast flies back and forth.
“I’m in love,” it says.
“Sure,” I reply with smile
—-a warm and pretty figure comes across my mind.
22
The green field of grass in April stretches before me.
—-This is the crystal of dew
—-This is the thorny sensitive plants, and I
I am the land.
26
Zen is enclosed in it: When the buds quietly bloom to flowers
Love is enclosed in it: When the flowers is tenderly willing to be plucked.
Fate is enclosed in it: When the petals of scent is pressed perennially
Between the lines on these pages of poems.
28
The verdant liana creeps as silently up the stone steps
(as time silently lapses through fingers.)
The verdant liana covers all over the window ledge
(as grief fills up my heart without reasons.)
29
Gently pick up a fallen flower—-
Have a sigfh!
As for the beauty of life as well as its mutability:
Poets have written down the first and the last poems.
31
The melodic shime flows out like the spring water;
The night grows even deeper.
The moon grows even brighter.
The tender spring water flows out like sweet melody.
32
A cloud floats over here;
It gets so cool and clear in the neighborhood
—-like the cape jasmine blossoms covered with drips of dew.
It gets so magical in the neighborhood
—-like the red forest sparkling in the sunlight of autumn.
A cloud floats away.
