看到颱風來襲時
小鳥守著破巢的驚惶
也看到大浪迎面掀起
討海人沈著應付的勇敢

看到污臭的河流
通過繁華絕代的城市
也看到庄腳人
堅持著清澈冷冽的泉水

看到雨濕的街頭
小狗低咽不知走向
也看到熙熙攘攘的人潮中
少年邁著浪漫憧憬的步伐

神啊
在痛心中
我仍然沒有失去對愛的信仰

看到成群躲避嚴寒而來
氣候轉好就又振翅遠飛的候鳥
也看到勤勞的建築工人
以堅實的肌肉為我們砌造棲身的場所

看到柑橘與柳丁
同為黃皮卻語言趣味不同
也看到葡萄與柚
卻能接枝成為新的品種

看到冷面殺手
一言不合即以火苗搶盡烽頭
也看到終生奉獻
為了弱勢的孤苦伶仃和自由言論

Oh, Lord
Love is the inherent nature.
It always exists
no matter what kind of existing conditions
have made me dismayed.

When a typhoon is coming
I witness the panic of birds guarding their broken nests.
When high waves are approaching
I also witness the bravery of fishermen coping with calmness.

I witness the dirty and stinking rivers
passing through the unprecedentedly prosperous cities.
I also witness the countrymen
insistent on using fountain water, clean and icy cold.

I witness the little dog snarling and wandering
in the rain-soaked street corner.
I also witness the youngsters romantically striding with hope
in the overcrowded waves of people passing by.

Oh, Lord
with my broken heart
I am still relunctant to lose my faith in love.

I witness a flock of migratory birds
coming over to avoid severe coldness
and flying again far away as the weather turns warm.
I also witness the hard working construction workers
building a shelter for us
with their strong and solid muscle.
I witness the orange and the tangerine
with the same yellow skin
yet each different in language and taste.
I also witness the grape and the grape fruit
inoculated to become a new breed.

I witness the cold-faced killer
showing up with fiery spark upon quarreling.
I also witness those who have dedicated all their lives
to the weak loners and
to the freedom of speech.

Oh, Lord
Love’s nature has been my faity
